2018 Spring Mini Sessions
Spring Mini Sessions
This is our first year doing mini sessions and I can honestly say I have fallen in love. It is another way to show off my creative side and meet a bunch of people! This year was a huge learning year, not just about Mini Sessions but also about farming. I knew I had to jump on Spring "Blossom" Sessions fast because the blossoms popped earlier than expected this year! We had a week to jump on the blossom train so after connecting with a local almond farmer Lonnie, Scarlett and I went out to his orchard to put our promotional together.
Since we had to move quick we had our first set of mini sessions 6 days later on February 17th, which also happened to be my birthday. When Lonnie asked me if I really wanted to spend my birthday that way I said, "Without a doubt, I am doing what I love and as long as I was with him I would be even happier." So we got all our paperwork in order, picked up our cupcakes, hired my mom to work our table and went for it.
I was so nervous leading up to our first mini session but once we got the light it was amazing. We started at 10am and went until noon with 10 minute sessions.
We took a break for lunch and came back at 2:30pm to start our afternoon sessions.
We ended our first ever Spring Mini Sessions and we so incredibly thankful to meet new people and capture memories! As soon as we finished I turned to Lonnie and said, " I am ready to go again" because the day was so great! We set up our second portion of mini sessions for the following Saturday.
Spring Mini Sessions Part 2
As the weather came and went we finalized our mini sessions and started pulling everything together. We went to look at the orchard and I was in love! We were so blessed with two amazing orchards this year!!!
We had balloons, signs, cupcakes and everything set up and ready as we welcomed our first family at 10am! We shot through till lunch and started back up again from 2:30-5:15pm We had all sizes of family this weekend! Mini Sessions are a quick, easy way to get pictures of the family, your growing baby bump, the kids, the new kids, the grandkids or the fur babies!
One of my favorite things about our sessions is that I don't love staging or using a lot of props but we do like structure and anything that brings the families together. I want to always specialize in giving people opportunities to capture real life moments that they can treasure forever.
Overall we had over 200 guests between our Spring Mini Sessions and 75% of those were new friends. We ate a lot of cupcakes and smiled a ton! As we continue our mini sessions we want to thank Cakers Cupcakes for all the yummy treats, Dan & Bard for letting us use their orchard and to my team for all their consistent effort and support. I mostly want to thank Jesus for guiding us through this, being with us and keeping us positive through the bumps. We cannot wait to make mini sessions part of Ashton Imagery.
